The San Giorgio Library,  in the ex-Breda zone not far from the centre, was constructed on the sitte of an old industrial building. It is a modern structure which, with its many reading and study rooms, its multimedia facilities, conference rooms, open-air terraces and caffetteria, provides a delightful space to spend a pleasant couple of hours. Internationally renowned artist Anselm Kiefer created the work Die Grosse Fracht, a work that takes its title from a poem by Ingeborg Bachmann. Over the large canvas, with its surface covered with layers of acrylic, emulsion, clay, rust and lead, a ship full of lead books is suspended.
