The Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi in Pistoia, which houses the archeological display and the Cathedral Museum, also houses on the ground floor the brand new Museo Tattile, a permanent exhibition conceived and designed to present the city to the visually impaired visitor. It is therefore possible through these displays to experience the city through touch. In the exhibition there is: a tactile map of the old town centre, scale models of some of the most important buildings in the city such as the Town Hall, the Basilica dell’Umiltà, the Cathedral and the Baptistery, that can be handled and assembled, and a series of panels and informative material. Specifically designed for the blind, this “tactile” display can also offer a unique way to experience the city to those who are not visually impaired.
